Primary Purpose: The RxFiles is Saskatchewan’s academic detailing service whose mandate is to provide evidence informed, objective, comparative drug information and promote optimal drug therapy. The service considers available evidence and clinical experience, synthesized into practical information resources. Information is then delivered to physicians, pharmacists and nurse practitioners via academic detailing discussions, conference presentations and printed/digital educational materials.
Nature of Work: As the RxFiles Associate Director, you will be involved in the oversight, development, maintenance and revision of evidence informed drug educational materials and interventions to promote appropriate drug use in Saskatchewan. This will involve both independent and collaborative project work on various drug therapy topics. In your independent work, you will apply information searching, critical appraisal, original writing and computer processing skills to the development of related drug information resources. Excellence in information processing will be imperative. You will work with family physicians, medical specialists, pharmacists and nurse practitioners in developing and delivering educational outreach throughout Saskatchewan. You will bring a high level of expertise towards the drug therapy decision making environment, understanding evidence and knowledge translation.
You will provide leadership to the RxFiles Academic team. You will lead by evaluating the situation and identifying future needs of the service to best support providers in care of their patients. Your focus will be strategic, long term in scope and with consideration for provincial and national factors and opportunities. The annual budget and human resources is a major responsibility.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be critical in providing leadership and training in a variety of drug therapy decision making contexts and networks. A high level of adaptability, flexibility and organization is required. In addition to the core academic detailing service offered to Saskatchewan health professionals, RxFiles resources are utilized throughout Canada and internationally. Providing guidance in the pursuit of select related opportunities will be important in leveraging the output and impact of RxFiles’ core service.
