Associate Director, Recreation Programs
Campus Recreation
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Associate Director of Recreation Programs is responsible for the development, planning, administration, promotion, and growth of Campus Recreation programs. Specifically, this includes Fitness & Wellness, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Outdoor Programs, and Special Events. Programs consist of competitive, recreational, and instructional opportunities for students, faculty/staff, alumni, and Reily members.
The Associate Director identifies trends and implements innovative recreational programming opportunities to meet the diverse needs of the university community. This position is responsible for strategic planning and developing comprehensive risk management policies and procedures for all program areas. The Associate Director is directly responsible for the daily training, mentoring, and supervision of six full time exempt professional staff. This position is a member of the Campus Recreation Senior Leadership Team and directly reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated skills and experience in program development and management.
• Ability to supervise and lead a team of professional staff and work collaboratively with the Campus Recreation team.
• Ability to interpret and analyze budgets and create financial reports.
• Ability to identify and implement risk management policies.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written with people of diverse ability/expertise.
• Ability to work with diverse groups in a university setting.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education, Business Management, Recreation Management, or a related field
• 4 years of progressive experience in recreation or sport administration
• Current American Red Cross Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Lifeguard, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI)OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 10 years of progressive experience in recreation or sport administration
• Current American Red Cross Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Lifeguard, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Business Management, Recreation Management, or a related field
Progressive experience in a collegiate recreation setting.
