ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR,Office of Government and Community Relations (OGCR) , to work with the director and staff to bring creative ideas and strategic thinking to advance OGCR’s objectives–public policy engagement, K-12 educational enrichment, nonprofit support, The Job Connector by MIT , and the annual Town Gown Report and presentation. Will develop relationships with a broad cross-section of stakeholders in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of issues and opportunities facing the Institute; manage–with the director–MIT’s town gown relationships; manage and lead MIT’s relationship with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; nurture MIT’s relationship with Cambridge, Boston, and other local, state, and regional partners; and egage in the fabric of the surrounding community, identify potential synergies for collaboration and partnerships, represent MIT by serving on appropriate boards and committees, and manage Institute visits with public officials as appropriate. All staff members are expected to be guided by MIT’s values  and Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, and Composition .

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: B.S./B.A. in a related field; at least seven years of professional work experience in one or more of the following fields–government service, nonprofit sector, public policy, and/or community engagement; support for MIT’s commitment to advancing equity and social and racial justice; and excellent communication and presentation skills.  PREFERRED:  an advanced degree in a related field and understanding of Cambridge or similar urban communities and the town gown relationship.  Job #22065-11

Salary range: $140,000-$150,000
