Scope of Job Oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the transfer student evaluation, admission and communication processes of the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Responsible for assessing innovative admission strategies that will result in increased university undergraduate enrollment of freshmen and transfer students from diverse backgrounds and experience.
Description of Duties • Directs and supervises the processing of admissions documents for students transferring to UTRGV, such as applications and transcript evaluations.
• Collaborates with IT to test process enhancements, systems upgrades and patches for the Admissions area.
• Coordinates the implementation of federal and state regulatory changes in the Student Information System.
• Creates reports for various programs to analyze the impact of regulations and procedural changes on prospective applicants.
• Oversees implementation of the Student Information System functionality upgrades.
• Represents Admission area in cross-departmental Student Information System planning, project and committee meetings.
• Manages and coordinates the communications process through the Constituent Relationship module and the Student Information System.
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Interviews, selects, trains and appraises the productivity of assigned full time staff and their direct reports.
• Prepares statistical and periodic reports.
• Advises parents and prospective student about educational planning, as needed.
• Monitors workload and reassigns resources when necessary.
• Oversees all admissions operations in the absence of the Director.
• Renders decisions on residency determinations; resolves admissions discrepancies.
• Serves on University committees as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received General direction from the assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given Direct supervision of all assigned staff.
Required Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education Master’s degree from an accredited university.
Licenses/Certifications Based on are of assignment the applicant may need to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).
Required Experience • Five (5) years of experience in admissions, financial aid, and/or registrations process, including supervisory experience; or
Three (3) years of experience in admissions, financial aid, and/or registrations process, including supervisory experience with a master’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Experience Previous experience working with Transfer Credit Practices including the Texas Common Course Numbering System.
Equipment Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.
Other Knowledge of state laws and regulations on residency for tuition purposes. Ability to create, develop, implement, evaluate and update recruitment program, events, and activities. Excellent verbal and written skills. Well-organized with attention to detail necessary to establish priorities, handle workloads, evaluate outcomes and manage multiple activities to meet goals.
