Position Summary Bryant University seeks an Associate Director of Content Marketing to join the growing University Marketing and Communication team.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Associate Director of Content Marketing drives the creation, curation, and evolution of content across multiple platforms to support Bryant University’s vision and mission. The Associate Director researches and defines desired target audiences manages the content creation and publishing process, and monitors consumer and content metrics. The Associate Director is an experienced marketer and highly creative and productive writer who helps develop and execute content marketing strategies, including but not limited to digital communications that speak to undergraduate, graduate, and executive professional audiences, potential donors, corporate partners, and influencers. The Associate Director leads content creation and amplification that contributes to the overall success of Bryant University’s strategic goals found within its Vision 2030 strategic plan.
This role requires an understanding of audience differentiation, the ability to adapt writing to specific purposes, as well as digital marketing skills in social media, email, and the web. This role must be able to adapt writing style and creative development to meet key business goals and align with the audience and channel-specific needs across platforms. This position requires strong project management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong command of written storytelling techniques, as well as the ability to augment them with multimedia assets to elevate digital performance. This role manages the Assistant Director of Digital Media and works alongside other members of the UMC team to elevate the College’s brand story and collaborates frequently with stakeholders throughout the college to develop persuasive content.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Partners with the creative, marketing, and design teams, as well as campus partners, to ideate and define content goals.
  • Helps tell Bryant’s story and value proposition by writing copy across multiple digital channels, including webpages, email communications, original articles, white papers, social content, videos, and presentations, print collateral and more.
  • Works collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment to analyze, create, and maintain messaging in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Adapts content to fit needs of different audiences, channels, and roles/personas.
  • Keeps up to date with content trends, audience preferences, and advancements in technology and research content and market trends to ensure that content is relevant and appealing.
  • Creates and champions SEO content strategy. Ensures continuous improvements to the performance of top-level web pages, with an emphasis on taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and sophisticated SEO, through their own work and the development and leadership of others on the content team. Analyzes data to make continuously informed decisions on content creation.
  • Ensures that SEO strategies are effectively implemented.
  • Manages content calendars and ensure that the content remains consistent across all platforms.
  • Partners with Marketing and Communications leadership to continually evaluate digital channels for optimal user experience, finding opportunities for short-term iterative updates and long-term improvements based on platform goals.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications This position is best filled by an individual with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communication, or a related field. They will have at least 6-8 years of increasingly responsible work experience in marketing, journalism, PR, or related communications field. They will be able to present a portfolio of published work, particularly digital marketing pieces and demonstrated experience in managing and organizing content marketing workflows and adapting and reprioritizing quickly to meet evolving business needs. The candidate must have excellent editing skills and strong attention to detail to ensure that errors in copy or messaging are caught resulting in error free work product. They must demonstrate the willingness to experiment with creating new forms of content and exploring new channels along with the ability to anticipate and embrace change, a willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills, and be flexible in changing conditions. The candidate will welcome and incorporate feedback, have excellent communication and collaboration skills and experience working with diverse stakeholders, including senior level teams.
