The Human Resources team provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs for all leaders and employees. Collectively with campus colleagues, HR serves as a strategic and trusted advisor, supports an inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce, and pursues continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration and leadership.

Reporting dually to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement Services and the Executive Director of Human Resources, this role will ensure the Advancement Division receives tailored, professional talent management services representative of a strong development and advancement function.  This role performs administrative responsibilities related recruiting, onboarding, orientation, coordination with University Shared Services, and other human resources administrative duties to support an efficient and customer- focused HR unit. Demonstrate effective customer service, communication, organizational skills, confidentiality, integrity, and a commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive workforce is essential.

Responsibilities
40% Talent Acquisition
Coordinate the hiring process for full-time and part-time positions, providing guidance and support to hiring supervisors to ensure effective recruitment and hiring strategies occur in support of a positive candidate experience.

  • Partner with the UM/MU Recruitment Center of Expertise to manage advancement hiring and selection activities such as: organizational branding, enhancement of existing job specifications, candidate selection, onboarding.
  • Drive any necessary custom branding strategies that continually replenish candidate pipelines based on market conditions and current and projected needs. Develop creative recruitment activities including, but not limited to: networking, social media recruiting, diversity, and outreach to appropriate industry organizations. Improve and implement retention strategies and drivers.
  • Build and maintain proactive partnerships with all Schools/Colleges in order to better understand their units, managing their staffing needs, and offer ideas, solutions and tools.
  • Identify and maintain up-to-date knowledge of effective recruiting resources and methods within the Advancement industry.
  • Facilitate expedient and effective hiring practices including direct promote and reclassification of roles
  • Develop or review job postings, recruiting plans, and advertisements effectiveness.
  • Oversee the interview process, coordinate logistics, support hiring supervisors, and maintain effective candidate communication.
  • Assist with developing job offer letters and employment contracts
  • Serve as the liaison with University Shared Services and the Recruitment Center of Expertise with job postings, candidate sourcing, and eRecruit processes.

30%    Career Development and Performance Management:

 Develop and lead onboarding and orientation for MU Advancement, promoting the mission, vision and values of MU Advancement.

  • Ensure employees have access to necessary tools and resources for a positive experience starting employment.
  • Facilitate orientation including content development and delivery, campus tours, and individualized 30–90-day training plans.
  • Develop and disseminate employee announcements, organizational charts, and other materials to support a welcoming environment and enhancing organizational communication.
  • Serve as an administrative coordinator for other HR programs as needed to support a culture and workforce commitment to excellence.
  • In conjunction with university systems and best practice, design and implement accountability tools for a performance management process that raises expectations, leader/manager capabilities, and embeds a culture of talent development that strongly links talent management and succession planning processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an advancement-specific employee training and onboarding curriculum.

30%    HR Administration

    Coordinate Advancement’s compensation processes, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and positive employee service at all times.   Coordinate, analyze, and process human resources and payroll transactions, serving as the Advancement contact for transactions and processes Areas of responsibility include:

  • Coordinate the development and distribution of salary letters and employee contracts. Verify accuracy and compliance with university policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure all employees compensation is accurate and no overpayments occur.
  • Coordinate funding changes to ensure supervisors are informed and aligned with budgets.
  • Initiate personnel transactions with University Shared Services in coordination with Advancement supervisors including hires, job changes, compensation changes, payroll correcting entries, earnings distribution changes, leaves of absence, separations, etc. ensuring accuracy and completeness before submitting to for final processing.
  • Evaluate exception reports, identify actions need and resolve discrepancies.
  • Serve as student-work study and graduate student assistant contact within Advancement
  • Ensure personnel file records are maintained according to university policy and practices.
  • Maintain effective spreadsheet and query skills to inform decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of university policies and practices.
