The team is also called on to support King’s to address major risks and issues, especially where these are cross-organisational in nature.  

The change management team supports and equips the King’s community to adopt changes in order for our transformation efforts to deliver the benefits we seek.  

About the Role

The Associate Director, Change Management will be leading effective change management across our transformation portfolio.  

You will be responsible for leading the application of the university’s chosen change management methodology to transformation activities though provision of advice and consultancy to senior leaders on planning and leading effective change; building capacity to support effective change management through training, coaching, tools and advice; and building a network of advocates to support change management.

The portfolio includes a wide range of programmes and projects and you will be responsible for driving change across all stages of project/programme lifecycles. You will lead change management delivery on high profile projects. You will build relationships across a wide stakeholder community, engaging with colleagues across Professional Services and faculties and with external partners, and contribute to the transformation agenda across the university, encouraging best practice and common standards. 

This post will be offered on a maternity cover for 8 months.

This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours.

:

  • Leading and managing the successful delivery of change on high priority transformation projects, working with the leadership and programme sponsors to scope and develop change management plans.   
  • Providing people change management oversight and assurance to ensure all change is prioritised and managed methodically and realises the required benefits. 
  • Provide advice and consultancy to leaders about how they can plan for and lead effective change management and build capacity. This is likely to include training, coaching, tools and advice. 
  • Delivering change management training within relevant roles across King’s
  • Building strong working relationships with a wide range of academic and professional services staff from across the university; represent the university with external stakeholders; build trusted advisor relationship with sponsors and key stakeholders. 
  • Ensure that change management activities are aligned with our chosen methodology and tools, with close liaison with the change management lead. 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.  

Essential criteria  

  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding of change management methodologies, tools and techniques. Prosci is our chosen methodology.  
  • 3+ years experience as a change manager driving effective organisational change within large and complex projects and/or programmes 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence, motivate and inspire others 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team working, tact, diplomacy and perseverance 
  • Highly effective communication skills attuned to audience requirements and delivered in different formats 
  • Experience in planning and facilitating training and awareness/engagement events  
  • Excellent IT skills to support programme and project delivery e.g., Office 365,  
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work across multiple areas in a complex and fast-paced environment, comfortable with ambiguity and complexity 
  • Desirable criteria

  • A Prosci /change management qualification 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK Higher Education sector
