Job Overview
Georgetown’s McDonough Career Services comprises a highly specialized team dedicated to supporting the career aspirations of students and alumni across McDonough’s academic program. These aspirations include successful employment placements, career promotion campaigns, career and executive coaching, leadership development and global executive presence enhancement. At any one time, Career Services supports over 1200 graduate students: ~120 EMBA, ~400 Flex MBA Program, ~540 Full-time Program MBA students and partners, ~110 Masters in Business Analytics (MSBA), ~100 Masters in Management (MiM), as well as all MBA Alumni seeking career management services perpetually. We embrace a goal of fostering a “One McDonough” careers experience which promotes interdisciplinary support across academic program and uses consistent frameworks and messaging.
Career advancement through job search, promotion, or entrepreneurial venture is critical to the mission of the business school and of utmost importance to the students. Student satisfaction with career center initiatives and support is carefully measured during enrollment periods. Accordingly, Career Services figures prominently in the school’s strategic efforts to achieve top-tier status.
Due to the comprehensive Career Services operation, the five master’s degree programs it supports and the nature of its outcomes, the Associate Director is a key member of Career Services team and provides leadership in:
1) Communications: Establishing, driving and strategically advancing the mission of the McDonough Career Services “story” by developing communication strategies to impact a diverse set of internal and external audiences (employers, students, prospective employers, prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff). These communications facilitate knowledge of the Career Center’s resources, coaching, network connections, and annual outcomes.
The Associate Director also leads projects for several of Career Services’ highly visible, annual marketing pieces.
2) Career Development Curricula: Partnering with the Career Advisors for the Executive and Graduate degree programs (MiM, MSBA, etc.) and under the Director of Career Curricula to design and execute a set of comprehensive and effective Career Curricula, ensuring that our executive and graduate degree students are employer-ready in the competitive global recruiting environment.
The Associate Director equips our emerging business leaders with advanced frameworks, practices, and support to encourage lifelong career development. These advanced curricula, create a positive distinction for the Georgetown master’s programs over our competitors. They serve in an interdisciplinary role, working with all Career Services team members (Operations, Career Advisors, Leadership), multiple departments across the McDonough School of Business (Program Office, Admissions, Communications), and current students to ensure the development experience is comprehensive.
3) Curricular & Digital Resource Management: Developing and curating the Career Center’s digital
curricula resources to ensure the quality of curricula presentation.
The Associate Director creates and manages annual success story collection and dissemination and implement a coordinated internal web of resources. This role requires someone who is highly collaborative with a strategic mindset, attention to detail, and effective communication (written, presentation, and teaching) skills.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, higher education, counseling, human/organizational development or equivalent degree
- 3 to 5 years of experience in career advising/coaching, curriculum development, education/training, strategic communications, marketing, and/or project management
- Highly organized, strategic, and creative
- Effective interpersonal communication, written communication, presentation, and teaching skills
- Strong team orientation and ability to be collaborative and flexible to understand the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Familiar with Canvas or other Learning Management Software, 12Twenty or other Career Management Software, Google Applications, social media tools, and web content management
