| Position Title | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/CAMPUS VISITS & EVENTS |
| Position Summary | Responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing admissions campus visits and organizing on-and-off campus recruitment and yield events for prospective students for the Undergraduate Admissions Office. The Associate Director of Visits and Events assumes responsibility for recruitment events and their success through timely and effective use of resources, time management skills, strong leadership abilities, and communication. Works with campus partners to develop and improve processes related to visits and events. Supervises assigned staff. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills and maintains positive relationships across campus and with the City of Mt. Pleasant. |
| Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree. Four years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, student services, enrollment services, higher education, or a business operations environment that includes medium-to-large-scale event planning and management and student interaction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to nurture and maintain relationships with internal/external educational and business partners. Knowledge of current trends in higher education admissions, event management, marketing, and public relations. Strong problem analysis and resolution skills. Demonstrated multi-tasking and organizational abilities. Supervisory experience. PC proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree. Admissions recruitment experience. Experience utilizing a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system. Budgetary experience that includes planning and monitoring a budget. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Serves as an integral member of the Admissions leadership/management team. Supports the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment/Admissions in recruitment planning as it relates to the campus experience for prospective students and their guests. Participates in the development of strategic plans and policies that support the mission, goals, and objectives of the department and Central Michigan University. Gathers, analyzes, and reports data related to the campus visit and event programming and its effectiveness of student/family satisfaction. Assesses and evaluates programming on an annual basis. Prepares scheduled and ad hoc reports for management review. Plans the large-scale yearly events including but not limited to Fire Up Fridays, Discover CMU, CMU and You Day, Mid-Michigan College Day Fair, Centralis Scholarship Competition, etc. Provides content development for admissions visits and event publications, communications, and the admissions website. Works closely with Admissions Communications and University Communications to develop marketing images, promotional and informational materials, and social media campaigns related to visits and events, (e.g., invitations, schedules, and registration materials). Responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating an annual events calendar for undergraduate admissions recruitment for both the on and off-campus teams. Develops recruitment and yield events for a variety of target populations and serves as a resource to campus departments for planning recruitment events. Actively participates in the College Liaison Committee. May occasionally work with graduate and international recruitment to plan and execute on-campus events. Determines program/event requirements as to space, facilities, technology, equipment, lodging, catering, parking, and on-site management. Develops and maintains a close working relationship with Events and Conference Services, University Events, and CMU Athletics. Notifies the campus community of upcoming events including the city of Mt. Pleasant. Negotiates and contracts with external vendors for promotional materials. Obtains event speakers as necessary. Attends events to facilitate operations and resolve problems. Develops strategies to enhance operations. Provides oversight and management of the Assistant Director of Visits and Events who oversees the campus tour program, evening call center, and daily admissions visits, including student assistants and Graduate Assistants. Oversees budgetary functions for all events and visits. Assists in budget development and adheres to budgetary constraints for recruitment and yield event programs and activities. Maintains records for all events. Performs other duties as directed. |
