Job Description
Working in the Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) Business Engagement Catalyst (BEC), the Associate Director will collaborate directly with the FSE School Directors, undergraduate program chairs, and capstone faculty to support the capstone and eProject portfolio. The Associate Director – Business Engagement Catalyst, cultivates, recruits, plans, and secures industry sponsored capstone projects and eProjects for FSE programs in cooperation with the capstone course faculty.
Over a one or two semester course sequence, the capstone and eProjects programs align students and industry, creating novel solutions for real-world scenarios in a cooperative technical relationship. Industry-defined problems become opportunities for teams of students to apply their technical skills alongside faculty mentors and industry advisors.
This role will support the coordination of industry recruitment through agreement negotiation and project funding. The Associate Directors will also be responsible for ensuring funding aligns with needs and scope of work and will assist the FSE Business Office with invoicing and collection of fees with industry partners.
This Associate Director will also support the recruitment, planning and execution of advisory boards as needed across the Fulton Schools of Engineering, and support the planning and execution of the capstone and eProjects showcase events twice a year.

Essential Duties
Industry Development
The Associate Director will develop, cultivate and recruit wholistic industry support through individualized engagement roadmaps building specialized brand, research and work force development strategies working with partners across ASU and the Fulton Schools of Engineering to ensure partners are plugging in appropriately. This will include growing and maintaining relationships, collecting follow up and providing feedback as the primary capstone and eProject contact for FSE Faculty, Faculty Associates, and students.
Project Management
This position will serve as the lead project manager by assessing current and potential capstone and eProjects to:
- Support the number of students enrolled in FSE capstone and/or project courses
- Monitor capstone and eProjects in-process including periodic surveying of industry sponsors
- Prepare and coordinate the capstone and eProject Service Agreements
- Provide data as appropriate for accreditation purposes
- Assist with overseeing the evaluation of the capstone and eProject program
- Provide the capstone and eProject update and summary to the IAB twice a year
- Communicate the capstone and eProject status to FSE leadership:
- For each capstone sequence
- Status of committed projects to date vs enrolled students
- Project to student ratio
- Projection of potential fees
- Capstone fee Invoicing information and coordination for each sequence
Project Development
This position is responsible for the overall development and successful milestones of the program:
- Collaborate/Coordinate with program leadership and capstone faculty
- Facilitate recruitment of projects with Industry
- Recruit a minimum of 95% of eProjects from Industry, or Government organizations each sequence
- Generate a minimum of $150K in fees per calendar year dependent on student enrollment
Project Administration
This position serves as the lead administrator of the project:
- Organize events (i.e., eProject Forums, Innovation Showcase, industry partner visits, host Poly campus tours with industry, etc.)
- Record industry interactions in SalesForce
- Assist the FSE Business Office in project invoicing and collecting fees for each eProject sequence
- Support workforce develop opportunities as required
- Perform other duties that arise necessary to support advancing eProjects
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Ability to be successful articulating capstone and FSE value proposition to industry
- Project management experience
- Client management experience
- 5-7 yrs. Industry experience with engineering products and designs
- Experience with executing NDAs, IP agreements, technology agreements
- Ability to successfully cultivate customers and close deals involving mechanical, electrical, automotive, general engineering, manufacturing engineering technologies

- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking
