Your opportunity:
Under the direction of and in consultation with the Assistant Dean, Lifelong Learning & Innovation, you will provide leadership, oversight and direction for the School’s engagement with government including providing tailored and customized programs. In addition to responding to incoming requests for customized training, you will be responsible for generating new business through relationship building at conferences, events and a wide range of networking opportunities. You will actively connect with government leaders and hiring managers in all levels of government to identify their needs and work with subject matter experts and instructors to develop proposals and plans. You will be responsible for analyzing client needs and using your knowledge of adult education and pedagogy, developing strategies for responsive course development and delivery. You will lead the creation of proposals in response to procurement processes initiated by all levels of government, and will develop suitable proposals and costing models in consultation with colleagues across divisions.
You will negotiate business arrangements, draft contracts and letters of agreement to support agreed upon terms. You will hire, supervise and evaluate the performance of contract instructors and liaise with clients throughout the planning and delivery of training. You will keep informed of emerging trends in government-funded programs and plans and share pertinent information with the team, leading to the development of cutting-edge programming that fulfill the needs of its beneficiaries. In this role you will have an exceptional commitment to quality and client satisfaction at all steps of the process.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting market research and analysis
- Developing strategic plans to determine the unit’s programs and activities
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Liaisingwith contacts to offer services that would increase revenue
- Settling partnership agreements and contract terms
- Developing educational program curriculum requiring attention to very fine detail
- Developing components of programs andinitiatives that advance strategic objectives
- Overseeing, analyzing and forecasting revenue-generating activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree with demonstrated knowledge in business, education, adult learning, curriculum and pedagogy or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in mid to senior level business development, sales or revenue generating roles.
- Recent experience developing proposals for bids and tendering opportunities with municipal, provincial and federal governments. Experience working with MERX, Public Services & Procurement Canada, Biddingo Network, Seao, or other public tendering services.
- Recent demonstrated experience with independently developing, building and closing on new revenue generating opportunities.
- Recent experience in developing and maintaining successful business and strategic partnerships, preferably within government, with a high degree of emotional intelligence and responsiveness to client needs.
- Demonstrated experience developing responsive curriculum and course design, leveraging a deep understanding of adult learning principles and academic quality. Understanding of adult learning principles and how they apply in a government setting.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives.
- Supervisory Experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner, balancing the demands of concurrent and potentially competing priorities.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Selfstarter with a keen interest and enthusiasm for networking and building connections.
- Ability to use tact, discretion, maintain confidentiality, flexibility and sound judgment.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt rapidly to new situations.

- Experience selling educational products, platforms and/or training.
- Knowledgeable regarding educational technologies.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 19 — $109,343 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $139,826. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
