Associate Director

The Office of Diversity Programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications for a full-time Associate Director.  Reporting to the Director of Diversity Programs, this position is an administrator who develops and leads enrichment programming that focuses on outreach and recruitment of underrepresented students within the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE).  In addition to supervising staff and serving in the absence of the director (who frequently travels), the Associate Director will work in collaborate with college/university officials to diversify corporate workforce, lead all diversity outreach to improves the awareness, engineering readiness, and recruitment of historical underrepresented populations at both undergraduate/graduate level, and develops summer enrichment and recruitment programs for precollege students. Qualifications

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in STEM, Student Affairs, or related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience involving coordinating, recruiting, and facilitating of multidisciplinary programs. 
  • Positive attitude with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong creativity, initiative, and teamwork; possess an understanding experiences, issues, and concerns of underrepresented students; and demonstrate the desire to contribute to the success of the college and university goals. 
  • Must be able to work weekends, travel and manage student group activity.
  • Must be able to problem solve, develop new models, and analyze the productivity of strategic programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in undergraduate recruitment and working with students majoring within science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related area is highly desirable.
