Job Summary | The new College of Community Engagement and Professions (CCEP) is seeking an energetic, visionary scholar to lead the SOE at the UWM. As the school leader, the individual will build and support an inclusive and supportive environment for teaching, learning, scholarship and service. They will coordinate the day-to-day functions of the oldest school at the university with four departments and multiple administrative offices. The new Associate Dean and Head of School will work as a member of the Dean’s leadership team as all members bring to life the progressive vision for the new college. The SOE mission is to provide leadership and inspiration for learning and human development in urban communities and our vision is to be a premier urban school of education recognized for its diversity, and known for excellence in teaching, learning and research. The Associate Dean will provide day-to-day oversight of all operations of the School. Some major duties include: -Budgeting to support the faculty, staff and students -Supporting, overseeing and maintaining the academic program array with the School -Developing annual budget with the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Finance -Supporting and building a culture of research and scholarship in the School and College -Representing the interests of the SOE with stakeholders and external bodies and supervising school level staff |
Minimum Qualifications | -Ability to meet tenure rank of Associate or Full Professor. -A doctorate in an education related discipline. -Research and scholarship record worthy of an appointment in one of the departments within the School of Education. -Successful administrative experience related to the responsibilities of this position, including overseeing the work of sub-unit(s). |
Preferred Qualifications | -Strong interpersonal and communication skills (as evidenced in application materials) and ability to work within a distributed leadership and team model -Successful supervisory and staff development experience -Ability to facilitate collaboration and promote an environment supportive of a diverse student body, faculty and staff -Experience with fiscal planning and budgeting -Familiar with current and emerging instructional technologies -Experience with state and/or national approval/accreditation processes -Evidence of effective time and organizational management, including serving on committees -Experience with implementing and evaluating university and intergovernmental policies and procedures -Experience in working with PK-12 schools, including expanding and building partnerships. |
