Description of primary duties and responsibilities: Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Broadwell College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University is dedicated to providing quality business education to a diverse student population. The College prepares students to meet the challenges of a changing environment and to compete in a global market. This is accomplished by supplementing the University’s strong teaching emphasis with research and a curriculum that reflects the changing market conditions. The College also assists in regional economic transformation by promoting entrepreneurial and economic education.
Description of Work Continued: Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Associate Dean supports the Dean and is a visionary leader who is the Broadwell College of Business and Economics’ chief academic officer for both internal and external affairs. As such, the Associate Dean works collaboratively with the College’s faculty, staff, students, as well as university administration, alumni, donors, and community partners. The Associate Dean, in collaboration with the Dean of the Broadwell College of Business and Economics administration and faculty, provide strategic leadership to foster, promote, broaden, and maintain the academic excellence of the Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration and Certificate programs. The Associate Dean position is a 12-month position.
The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the Broadwell College of Business and Economics, and he/she is a member of the BCBE leadership team. Under the general direction of the Dean of BCBE, the Associate Dean is responsible for the entire scope of planning, operations, and resource management for the College to ensure the smooth execution of the College’s administrative, instructional, service, research, grant writing, and fundraising functions.
The duties of the Associate Dean are instructional and administrative. Duties and responsibilities of the Associate Dean will include leadership with respect to personnel, budgets, and administration.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: (1) Administrative experience in an accredited program; (2) industry experience in business consulting or similar field; and (3) Ph.D. in Management, Industrial Engineering or related field; (4) a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service equivalent to the rank of a tenured Associate Professor or full Professor; (5) Demonstrated success in securing funding to support research and/or academic programs; and Academic administrative leadership. Experience with accreditation, financial management and developing new programs preferred. The Associate Dean must subscribe to the principle of shared governance and collegiality; must have a collaborative working style and the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
