Job Summary:
The Interdisciplinary Co-op Education Program at UBC’s Okanagan campus offers students enriched educational experiences for personal and professional growth by working with diverse community partners and sectors to provide transformative workplace learning as part of students’ degree programs.
This position is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Interdisciplinary Co-op Education program at the UBC Okanagan campus. This includes recruiting students and providing counselling to students to prepare for co-op work terms one-on-one and in groups, monitoring student work terms and addressing any workplace issues that students encounter, marketing the program to employers, providing evaluation and analysis of work terms and student success each term, collaborating with other experiential education and community engaged professionals at UBC and throughout the province and the day-to-day administration of the program. This position will work across all disciplines included within the Interdisciplinary Co-op Education Program, including working with the program coordinators, employers and students as required. This position will further enact a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonized practice through continued program development and improvement, using an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, gender positive, service equity approach. Work is based on campus. Flexible remote work is an option.
Organizational Status:
This position reports to the Associate Director, Community Relations, Faculty of Management. The coordinator works closely with other co-op coordinators and administrative support staff to meet the needs of the program stakeholders.

Impact of decisions:
This position represents UBCO Interdisciplinary Co-op and the associated Faculties. Incorrect decision would adversely affect the reputation of the Co-op program, and could prevent the program from achieving its targets. The reputation of other UBC co-op and career programs and of the faculties and university generally would also be harmed by poor decisions. Failure to deliver effective and timely service to employers could result in a loss of industry support, which would seriously damage the program. Failure to equip students for the workplace and to give sound advice to both students and employers could lead to significant personal and professional challenges.
Supervision Received:
Reports to the Associate Director, Interdisciplinary Co-op Education. Works independently within constraints of policy and the administrative and program operational framework. Work subject to review in relation to program goals.
Supervision Given:
Delegates and reviews the work of any student assistants and administrative support. May hire and manage student staff and contract work performed by outside suppliers such as caterers.
