Associate Application Systems Developer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Applications Systems Architecture, in the Student Information Systems (SIS) group, the Associate Application Systems Developer is responsible for the development, implementation and on-going support of our web-based applications: Directory of Classes (DoC) and Student Services Online (SSOL) environment. SSOL is the primary platform for students, faculty, and administrators to interact with the mainframe student system to transact their business with the University. It consists of a wide range of interrelated programs, including registration, grading, and billing.

Responsibilities

  • Works with other CUIT Teams on customization and implementation work.
  • Plays lead role in the migration to new application and database platforms as required.
  • Defines and supports software configurations to address Student Service needs.
  • Develops, reviews and validates test plans. Executes test scripts.
  • Assists customer organizations with planning and implementation of complex configurations.
  • Identifies and documents infrastructure configuration requirements.
  • Maintains good relationships with peer technical groups and other support groups.
  • Provides project management and technical consulting as required.
  • Diagrams business processes and system workflows and develops comprehensive documents for applications and sub-systems.
  • Available for on call rotation for after-hours and weekend work.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required.
  • Minimum 0-2 year’s related experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with C programming language, SQL programming, HTML, shell scripting and CrossPlex programming.
  • Knowledge of and experience with programming in UNIX and Windows environments, MS SQL Server, Kerberos.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including teamwork/collaboration, analytical thinking, communication and influencing skills, and technical expertise.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
  • Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Weekend and off-hour work may be necessary on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years’ related experience.
  • Knowledge of Python, MS SQL Server and contemporary development tools.
