Mission Statement

The University of Michigan Department of Urology exists to cure or reduce suffering from urologic disease and disability through comprehensive urologic education of the next generation of leaders in urology within a milieu of exceptional, innovative, and collaborative urologic care and research.

Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will be a urologic oncologist and health services researcher.  The candidate will provide outstanding clinical service and teaching through the urology clinics and in-patient services at University Hospital, Cancer Center, other satellite clinics, and Ann Arbor VA as determined by Departmental and Urologic Oncology Divisional strategic planning.  The position will include approximately 50% protected time for scholarship activities and robust Departmental support for the development of an externally-funded research program in health services research. The clinical practice can span the breadth of urologic oncology diagnoses, depending on the candidate’s goals. The applicant must have a strong commitment to a career as a surgeon-scientist and in becoming an integral member of the Department of Urology’s Dow Division of Health Services Research. Additionally, activities will involve the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and other allied health personnel within Urology and other departments.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the weekly Urology Grand Rounds and share in call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications*

The selected candidate must have an M.D. and be Board Certified or Board eligible. Successful applicants will have completed a urology residency, and training at an approved fellowship in Urologic Oncology is preferred.  The candidate must hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan.  Evidence of clinical excellence is expected.
