- The Wildlife Ecology & Ecotoxicology Laboratory at Indiana State University (ISU) is seeking graduate student applications (PhD degree) to study turtle ecology in Indiana.
A PhD position will be available to start January 2023.
An opportunity may be available starting fall semester 2023 if the position starting January is not filled.Graduate research projects will be expected to combine traditional field ecology studies with techniques and technology such as ecotoxicology, GIS habitat analysis, mark-recapture, telemetry, and/or genetics. The student will conduct field-based data collection during the summer as well as participate in laboratory work during the academic year. Fieldwork may involve canoeing/boating, mud, bugs, heat, handling turtles, and other strenuous dirty-job type work (need to be able to lift ~50lbs). There is opportunity for the student to develop their own project based off of their interests and skills.

- Minimum qualifications:
– MS by start date in ecology, biology, zoology, wildlife, or a related field (Exceptional students with a B.S. may be considered);
– Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0;
– GRE verbal and quantitative scores of at least 150;
– Valid driver’s licenseSuccessful applicants will be self-motivated, have a strong interest in ecology and herpetology, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience with research, fieldwork, boats/canoes, and common statistical software packages are preferred. Experience with ecotoxicology/analytical chemistry, GIS, genetic analysis, or other modern analytical techniques/tools that could enhance a graduate project are a plus.
