Assistant Track and Field Coach

Bethel University

Serve as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field programs. Work under the direction of the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country.

  • Coach, teach, mentor, disciple student-athletes in track and field. Develop training and competition programs in order to compete for championships.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes who align with the requirements for Bethel University and have the capacity for high-level competitive success.
  • Assist with management of the men’s and women’s track and field program – logistics, fundraising, NCAA/MIAC guidelines, institutional policies and expectations.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept
  • Demonstrated effective recruitment strategies 
  • Ability to organize and implement effective competition strategies
  • Working knowledge of NCAA, MIAC and institutional rules and regulations
  • Playing and coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred
  • Knowledge of sports management 
  • Demonstrated ability to work alongside of students in a cooperative and collaborative style 
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented 
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the sport.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

The assistant coach is expected to mentor student athletes in their holistic development, including nurturing their spiritual formation, giving attention to their physical well-being, monitoring their academic progress, and facilitating a team culture that produces vitality resulting in a high level of student athlete satisfaction and competitive success.
