Job Description
 

The School of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish to join our faculty beginning August 1, 2023. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, benefit eligible position.

Applicants must have a PhD in Spanish or in a related field by the time of appointment, as well as native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English. The department is seeking a specialist in Central America with an additional emphasis in Afro-Hispanic Studies, reflecting the richness and diversity of Central American identities.

The teaching requirements will be assigned by the Department Chair and will focus primarily in introductory and intermediate Spanish classes and may also include courses in advanced literature and Spanish for health sciences.

The Department has a strong commitment to faculty and student diversity and is particularly interested in candidates whose critical perspectives are linked to the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education in ways that inform and influence their pedagogical approach. This hire could also contribute to several cross-campus initiatives, including programming in the Cambio Center and collaborations with the newly emerging, interdisciplinary, and multi-campus LatinX minor housed within the School of Languages, Literatures & Cultures.


Qualifications
 

Minimum qualifications:  Applicants must have a PhD in Spanish or in a related field by the time of appointment, as well as native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.
