Assistant Tax Manager (Controllership)

A hands-on and proactive team player who helps to manage and oversee the University’s tax compliance, provides tax advisory to internal users and be involved in ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.   

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure proper accounting of taxes for tax compliance – Mainly GST, withholding tax and property tax but also includes other taxes such as direct and indirect international tax, and stamp duties, etc
• In charge of preparation and prompt filing of tax returns
• Handle tax queries from IRAS and internal users
• Analyse and check accuracy of tax reporting
• Work closely with other units and departments to obtain information for tax assessments
• Check IRAS’ property tax assessments and perform property tax allocation to departments and review IRAS’ property tax assessments
• Review and update tax guides for use by internal users
• Review and check reconciliations for GST and withholding tax
• Review agreements, transactions and accounting entries to advise on tax implications
• Liaise with tax authorities on tax issues
• Provide tax advice and training to internal users on GST, withholding tax  and other tax matters
• Ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or professional qualifications recognized by ISCA
• Working experience in GST and / or corporate tax preferred
• Familiar with SAP system
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel
• Possess good analytical, writing, organizational and communication skills
• Good team player and able to work independently in a team
• Possess maturity and effective interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external parties
