Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) is seeking to hire an Assistant Southern Fisheries Research Biologist. The Assistant Southern Fisheries Research Biologist is supervised by the South Region Fisheries Research Biologist and works in the Office of Science and Research. South Region Fisheries Research Biologist is responsible for the management of Indiana’s reservoirs and streams which includes monitoring of population dynamics, evaluation of management techniques, changes in aquatic habitat, human dimensions, economics, and other relevant issues. The location of the position will be Bloomington, Indiana. The location of the position will be in Bloomington, Indiana. Bloomington is a diverse college town in the heart of Indiana’s forested hill region with abundant outdoor recreation and cultural opportunities. The Bloomington Field Office of the Division of Fish & Wildlife houses most of the Division’s wildlife scientists, a portion of the fisheries scientists, and other Fish & Wildlife management staff.
This position will also work closely with district fish biologists, DNR data specialists, and other Indiana researchers. Additional duties include assisting in analyses of other projects, creating GIS maps, social surveys, and reports. The position will also assist the South Fisheries Research Biologist with writing the research reports and manuscripts, managing species specific databases, communicating with the public and other scientists, supervising technicians, vehicle and equipment maintenance and other duties.The State of Indiana is an equal opportunity employer.
- Qualifications
- B.S. in biology, fishery biology, aquatic ecology, conservation, or related discipline. Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
