Requirements
The Assistant/Senior Assistant Dean for Research Support and Academic
Compliance is responsible for promoting and sustaining a robust undergraduate research culture that emphasizes academic compliance, high standards, and ethical conduct. The person in this role will provide encouragement and advising to current students/recent alumni on pursuit of graduate study.
Responsibilities:

Encourage undergraduate research through existing academic programs (honors in the major, certificate theses, etc.) as well as through new initiatives;

Ensure that the research section of the GU-Q website remains up-to-date;

Encourage students to publicly present and publish their research; help them identify appropriate outlets for these activities;

Coordinate existing student research activities such as honors in the major and the MESSA conference;
-
Apprise students of the availability of internal sources of research funding; manage the allocation of awards from this fund;

Liaise where appropriate with the Directors of Research / Deans for Research of the other Education City universities, as well as with the research leadership at QF and Qatar University;

Represent the University’s interests with the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and its constituent funding programs, including the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP), the Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP); encourage faculty and student applications for NPRP and UREP funding;

Keep abreast of and publicize relevant research funding opportunities for faculty and students offered through main campus units;

Promote and publicize the scholarly contributions of faculty, students, and staff to audiences in Qatar, on Main Campus, and around the world;

Support activities that ensure faculty, staff, and student are in compliance with regulations about ethical standards in the conduct of research sponsored by the University;

Oversee and administer Honour Council (HC), including case proceedings and adjudication, guidance, outreach and training to HC students and HC faculty;

Supervise, oversee and administer Honours in the Major (HM) activities;
-
Serve on the Academic Standards committee;

Provide departmental review of IRB proposals;

Ensure that unit programs and activities are within financial parameters of the unit’s budget;

Coordinate delivery of the BSFS science requirement;

Work with the Senior Associate Dean to identify qualified local adjunct instructors to deliver science requirement courses;

Teach one course per semester as needed.
Requirements:

Ph.D. in the humanities, sciences, or social sciences with a preference for specialization in international affairs;

3+ years of teaching and research experience at the university level;

3+ years of university academic and research administration experience, including student advising, personnel supervision, policy creation and enforcement, and budget preparation and analysis;

Appreciation of the importance of undergraduate research in the context of a liberal arts curriculum;
-
Understanding of policies and procedures required to ensure academic integrity; close familiarity with faculty culture in the context of a research university;

Proficiency with MS Office;
-
Experience with IRB procedures;
-
Knowledge of the Qatari research funding landscape preferred;

Arabic language knowledge preferred.
