Your opportunity:

This position provides an opportunity to join the Office of the Registrar and Student Services (ORSS) at the Daniels Faculty. Reporting to the Registrar and Director, Student Services, the Assistant Registrar, International and Recruitment plays an integral role within the ORSS team by planning and implementing the day-to-day administrative tasks required to support and manage all undergraduate and graduate recruitment processes and procedures as well as opportunities for international exchange. This includes analyzing market trends, developing marketing materials, supporting all prospective students and assisting in their transition upon admission.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform recruitment strategies and plans
  • Researching potential target markets to inform recruitment plans
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities, in person and virtual
  • Promoting, enhancing and developing the student exchange pathways for all Daniels programs, including international exchange
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations
  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences, and supporting newly admitted students on various transition activities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of experience with undergraduate/graduate student recruitment in an admissions environment and/or registrar’s office
  • Demonstrated experience advising prospective students and parents, providing presentations to large audiences, and liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate outreach opportunities
  • Experience producing print, marketing and web-based materials, including developing website and social media content and online communication strategies targeted to prospective students, newly admitted students, and parents
  • Experience conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Experience with data collection and manipulation, reports, and statistical data
  • Familiarity with issues and trends in student recruitment, admissions, transition, communications and globalization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and information communication standards of practice in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
  • Thorough knowledge of the university’s procedures as they relate to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA) and management of confidential information
  • Experience and working knowledge of the University of Toronto policies and procedures or similar, especially as related to student recruitment, admissions, transition and internationalization
  • Excellent computer skills, including in–depth working knowledge of and extensive experience with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Prezie, HTML and Content Management Systems
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and listening skills; exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills; strong public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and data management/statistical skills
  • Well-honed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to interact, communicate with diverse constituents (students, parents, high school administrators, university staff and faculty)
  • Exceptional planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Valid passport and driver’s licence required
  • Must be willing and available to travel and work evenings and weekends, as required.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with international students and exchange programs is an asset
  • Facility with online database- CRM database and ROSI/ACORN is an asset

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: 

USW Pay Band 12 — $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
