Job Summary The Registrar’s Office (RO) is a large, multi-unit, multi-site operation involved in the entire academic experience of Dalhousie students, from recruitment and admissions through to convocation and beyond. Reporting to the Associate Director, Recruitment (International), the incumbent serves as a primary institutional expert in undergraduate international admissions, providing policy guidance and interpretation to the University Registrar, Associate Director of Admissions, senior admissions staff and admissions committees in the Faculties.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess international applicants’ academic credentials relative to University admission requirements, ensuring that applicants are assessed promptly and accurately.
  • Liaise with prospective and current partners and agents regarding program information and training, recruitment activities and applicant support.
  • Train admissions and recruitment staff on international admissions requirements and education systems from the over 120 countries from which students are admitted.
  • Advise new international students on an individual or a group basis, on program, class and timetable selections, and degree requirements.
  • Participate actively as required in international recruitment by representing the University on international recruitment tours.
Note Significant international travel is required for this position (up to three or four months per year) with potential for travel into countries with specific entry requirements (eg. required vaccines). The successful candidate must comply with any applicable vaccine requirements when travelling internationally. The successful candidate must also have, or obtain, a valid passport and a valid driver’s license.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field, plus approximately five to seven years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience in a university setting
  • Experience in research and data analysis and evaluation.
  • A solid understanding of world educational systems, English proficiency testing issues, and issues related to document fraud detection.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Demonstrated ability managing a high-volume workload and multiple projects simultaneously.
