Assistant Registrar – Evaluation

Position Summary:       

Under the direction of the Associate Registrar and in conjunction with the University Registrar, is responsible for administering the processes of the Final Evaluation/Graduation area. The Assistant Registrar for Final Evaluations/Graduation must work closely with the campus Associate Registrars and each of the Assistant Registrars to ensure that the processing of the area’s tasks is in concert with the overall processes of the office. The Assistant Registrar for Final Evaluations/Graduation is directly responsible for the training and supervision of all support staff who are assigned to the Final Evaluation/Graduation Area.

The position will primarily be located at the Wilf campus in Washington Heights, but travel to other Yeshiva University campuses will be required as well.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Associate Registrar
  • Maintains the system for preparation of the delivery of the commencement Program file and all graduation related data
  • Coordinates, prepares, and disseminates graduation lists for the campus community
  • Coordinates graduation application processing and upholds all deadlines
  • Orders and supervises the mailing of diplomas and university certificates
  • Coordinates the process for filing for state certifications where necessary
  • Evaluates records of candidates for degrees and certificates and certifies eligibility for degree conferral, for awarding of institutional certificates, and for recommendation for state certification.
  • Updates the system in preparation for generating degree audits to begin the evaluation process.
  • Produces an annual flow chart which calendars the processes for this area of responsibility.
  • Develops an effective working relationship with each constituency within the academic community.
  • Shares in the general management of the office: addresses general inquiries from the staff and is prepared to provide direction as necessary
  • Assists the Associate Registrar and the Registrar in various tasks and in other areas of the office as they may occur.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required along with at least one year experience in an administrative position in higher education
  • Experience with registration, academic record keeping, including transfer credits and graduation checks and National Student Clearinghouse updates preferred
  • Experience in academic records management, curriculum administration, and student services preferred
  • Knowledge of FERPA and other relevant federal and state laws is required
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases programs, as well as experience with statistics and data analysis required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, strong analytic and problem solving skills, ability to multitask, effectively prioritize work, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, including employee development and performance management skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word required; skill in the use of computerized student information systems, such as Banner, strongly preferred.

Salary Range:

$65,000-70,000
