| Position Summary | Provides leadership for the Registration and Records area of the Registrar’s Office. Responsible for ensuring that the Office of the Registrar and its processes maintain compliance with university, state, federal, and other regulatory groups. Manages the hiring, training and supervision of office professional staff. Coordinates and manages registration and records-related activities for all CMU students and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all current and prior Central Michigan University students’ academic history. Approves exceptions regarding the drop deadline, individual course withdrawal deadline, credit/no credit deadline, and full semester withdrawal deadline. |
| Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years professional experience in a student service area. Ability to make decisions that require a significant degree of autonomy. Experience working with a student information system. Supervisory experience in a student service environment. Ability to schedule, coordinate and supervise special projects involving staff and other resources. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Ability to keep and maintain records, prepare reports, and analysis concerning such reports. Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures. General working knowledge of computer systems and familiarity with SAP. Experience in a higher education environment. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Responsible for providing leadership to the records and registration unit. Oversees and supervises staff. Will recruit, hire, train, direct daily activities, evaluate, discipline and develop the staff to ensure accurate and timely customer service and service delivery. Ensures transactions by all personnel within the assigned unit are performed in compliance with applicable University, federal, state policies and procedures. Interprets, explains and enforces university policies related to records/registration to students, faculty and staff. Collaborates with academic department offices to resolve registration and academic history problems. Collaborates with external sources to determine authenticity of CMU transcripts and determining proper course of action in the event of fraudulent transcripts. Determines appropriate exceptions to register students or modify academic history. Investigates appeals and authorizes/denies exceptions or extensions to policies. Monitors listservs, websites, federal registry and state legislature regarding compliance issues and advise management. Oversees and continuously improves processes related to student records and registration, including but not limited to, grading, enrollment verification, registration exceptions, transcript requests, student enrollment reporting, and institutional audits. Oversees the generation of accurate and timely enrollment reports, profiles and data sets in compliance with state and national requirements. Includes managing and monitoring transmission of data to third parties such as the National Student Clearinghouse, the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), the Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), and others. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of all student academic history. Proposes solutions to problems of a sensitive nature both orally and in writing. Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of academic and administrative policies. Other duties as assigned. |
