Expected start: November 2024.The position is initially limited to a period of expected six years and, if a qualification agreement is concluded and fulfilled, includes the possibility of being taken on as an Associate Professor for an indefinite period.The tenure-track position is affiliated to the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation. Duties include research and teaching in the field of Photogrammetry. The focus of research should be on multi-platform multi-sensor high resolution Earth observation for 3D modeling of vegetation including the application and extension of those models for applied monitoring of forest resources.Tasks: Research:
- Research in the field of high-resolution Earth observation, especially of forest resources, and in the field of 3D acquisition and modeling of vegetation
- Promotion of interdisciplinary research in the fields of geodesy, geoinformation and environmental engineering
- Acquisition of research projects (national and European/international)
Teaching:
- The successful candidate will teach independently in the Bachelor and Master curricula Geodesy and Geoinformation as well as Environmental Engineering
- Teaching will be in the form of classes, lab courses, and excursions as well as supervising academic theses
- Development of innovative teaching approaches and contribution to the outreach activities of the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation
- It is emphasized that currently the teaching in the Bachelor curriculum is in German language requiring appropriate language skills
Your profile:
- University Master and Doctoral degree or equivalent and proficiency in German and English
- Proven expertise in the Laser scanning, photogrammetry, remote sensing, and modelling of vegetation
- Outstanding achievements and potential in research, excellent publication record, international reputation
- Experience in academic teaching (classes and lab courses, excursions, etc.) and supervising or co-supervising of academic theses
- Experience in designing and participating in research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups, willingness to acquire third-party funding
- International visibility through organization of conferences or contribution to scientific organizations is an advantage
- Scientific activity outside TU Wien is an advantage
