Expected start: August 2025.The work contract is initially limited to six years. The candidate and TU Wien can agree upon a tenure evaluation, which when positive, opens the possibility to change the position to Associate Professor with an unlimited contract.The tenure track position is affiliated to the Research Area of Organic and Biological Chemistry of the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry, Faculty of Technical Chemistry at TU Wien and comprises research and teaching in the fields of biosensors, organ-on-a-chip technology, and cell biology. The focus of the research activities will be on microphysiological analysis systems and the development of new in vitro disease models.Tasks:Research

• Advanced knowledge and proven research achievements in the areas of microfluidics, biosensing, and 3D cell biology, the development of organ-on-a-chip systems, and the establishment of neurodegenerative disease models
• Relevant experience in rapid prototyping, biocompatible materials, and electrochemical systems for the development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies
• Expertise in on-chip sensing, personalized medicine, and the replacement of animal models

Teaching

• In teaching, this position covers sections of the lectures and laboratory exercises for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Technical Chemistry, focusing on bioelectrochemistry, organ-on-a-chip technology, biochip technologies, and cell biology. Additionally, the position will be involved in the teaching activities of the Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering. Participation in foundational and research-driven teaching, as well as direct supervision of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. students, is expected

Your profile:Must criteria:

• University MSc and PhD degree in Technical Chemistry, Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering
• International research experience; research stay(s) abroad (e.g. Postdoc)
• Proven research achievements including international, peer-reviewed publications in relevant research fields
• Teaching experience in microfluidics, chemistry, and organ-on-a-chip fields
• Proficiency in presentations and public speaking
• Experience in carrying out third-party funded projects (in both basic and applied research)
• Willingness to lead a research group and to take on management tasks within the organizational structure
• Excellent English language skills
