As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry, Research Division Organic & Biological Chemistry, Research Group Bioorganic Synthetic Chemistry (163-03-4), this position is expected to be filled from 04.11.2024 (40 hours per week, limited to 6 years).The position is initially limited to a period of six years and, if a qualification agreement is concluded and fulfilled, includes the possibility of being taken on as an Associate Professor for an indefinite period.Tasks: Research:

  • Development of new strategies and concepts for the design of conjugated aromatic and macrocyclic molecules, in particular with regard to electronic and electrochemical applications
  • Development of porous, redox-active organic materials with semiconductor properties
  • Research and development in the field of organic synthesis of conjugated molecules
  • Administrative tasks in the research group, at the Institute and in the Faculty of Technical Chemistry (including the supervision of research projects, infrastructure, strategic programmes and network activities)
  • Active cooperation with other research groups at TU Wien

Teaching:

  • In teaching, it is planned that this career position will cover parts of the organic chemistry courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Technical Chemistry and in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Process Engineering, both in lectures and in laboratory exercises
  • Independent teaching to establish the topic of the career position in the curricula of the faculty is expected
  • Involvement in basic and research-led teaching, as well as direct supervision of Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students is planned
  • It should be noted that Bachelor’s teaching at TU Wien is currently in German, while Master’s teaching is currently being switched to English and appropriate language skills are required

Your profile: Required:

  • A domestic or equivalent foreign university degree with a doctorate in technical chemistry or chemistry
  • International experience in the context of research stays (e.g. as a postdoc)
  • Scientific publication activity in the international specialist literature – Lecture and presentation practice
  • Experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects
  • Proof of acquired project funding at a highly competitive level (e.g. ERC Grant, FWF START Prize in accordance with the Vienna University of Technology’s Excellence Initiative and the Faculty of Technical Chemistry) ERC Grant, FWF START Prize) in accordance with the Excellence Initiative of TU Wien and the Faculty of Technical Chemistry
  • Willingness to lead a research group and to take on management tasks within the organisational structure
  • German and English language skills at C1 level
