Job Summary: The Department of Public Health at the University of West Florida, a comprehensive regional institution, invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 8, 2023. The Department offers an online Master of Public Health degree as well as an online Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree. Responsibilities include teaching three online courses in the fall and spring semesters with an anticipation for compensated teaching and advising during the summer when funds are available. The selected candidate will join a team of researchers addressing a broad range of public health problems. The candidate is expected to lead a thematic program of independent research that is competitive for extramural funding. The candidate is also expected to engage in student advising, development and oversight of internships, and recruitment and retention activities, as well as service to the University. Salary is commensurate with experience. The position is located at the Pensacola campus.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a strong commitment to teaching, academic research, and service.
Position Qualifications: Applicants for this position must have an earned doctorate in public health or closely related area. If the terminal degree is in an area other than public health, the applicant must have an MPH from a CEPH – accredited degree program and public health experience at the local, state or federal levels.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with online teaching. The candidate must have a broad base of public health knowledge and skills to teach a range of courses in areas such as principles of public health, biological basis of public health, applied epidemiology and biostatistics, quantitative/qualitative data analysis and research methods. A strong applied public health research focus with evidence of community collaboration is a highly preferred.
