About the Division of Psychology:
 

The Division of Psychology within the Department of Pediatrics includes more than 45 pediatric, clinical, and neuropsychologists practicing across subspecialty areas at Texas Children’s Hospital, providing care in both the inpatient and outpatient environments. BCM, our academic home, is also home to outstanding psychology training programs at the graduate, internship, and postdoctoral levels.  
 

Summary

The Texas Children’s Hospital Psychology Division is experiencing significant expansion in treating children and adolescents with mental health presentations across the acuity spectrum. We plan to open multi-disciplinary Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) locations in early 2023 that will serve children and adolescents who require a higher level of support than can be provided in the traditional outpatient setting. Initial programming will target patients referred from the inpatient setting, emergency centers, and outpatient settings who demonstrate difficulties with emotional and behavioral regulation related to anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma. 

 

Role Responsibilities:
The psychologists working in the IOP settings will:

 

  • Provide direct patient care through individual, family, and group interventions.
  • Conduct psychological assessments. 
  • Implement measurement-based care and quality/outcomes evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (psychiatry, social work, nursing, recreational therapy) in providing the highest quality of care.  
  • Partner with current Psychology leaders to continually develop and improve the IOP psychotherapy intervention program, including curricula, policies and procedures, program structure, outcomes measurement, and related operational/administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Obtained a doctorate in clinical, counseling, or school psychology with a specialization in pediatric or child clinical psychology 
  • Completed both an APA-accredited psychology internship and postdoctoral training in pediatric or clinical psychology
  • The candidate must also be licensed/license-eligible in Texas
