Position Summary The College of Education, Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership is seeking to add a collaborative and innovative colleague for a one-year, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching in Instructional Design and Technology at the University of Memphis. The applicant’s teaching and service should demonstrate commitment to and experience with (1) Instructional design and technology in P-12 settings, (2) teacher education preparation; (3) diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote effective learning; (4) culturally relevant and sustaining practice; and (5) comprehensive and sustained professional growth opportunities to enhance professional practices involving diverse populations. The successful candidate will start August 21, 2023.
Minimum Position Qualifications Required Qualifications
• A doctoral degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a closely related field
awarded by August 01, 2023
• Experience, commitment, and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate
and/or graduate educational technology courses
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Desired Qualifications
• At least 4 years of K-12 teaching experience
• Experience with maker spaces, STEM hubs, and related endeavors
• Experience, commitment, and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching online
• Identifiable success in advising/mentoring students and serving on dissertation
committees
• Demonstrated success in producing scholarly publications and/or presentations
• Identifiable action plan for teacher preparation and professional development related to
educational technology
• Identifiable success obtaining external funding and managing funded projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach on-campus, hybrid, and online courses in educational technology
• Coordinate IDT’s undergraduate courses and all EdTech instructors
• Represent IDT in teacher education matters within the department and college
• Assist in the coordination of the IDT Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology
• Provide open lab hours each week to assist students in any EdTech class (undergraduate and
graduate; especially for students in online sections) with projects and lesson plans.
• Assist in the management of the EdTech Lab, IDT’s makerspace/STEM hub, and all equipment
related to IDT’s educational technology courses
• Help with IDT’s EdTech Badging program
• Contribute to recruitment for the EdTech graduate certificate and degree programs
