Position Details

The Department of Sport Management in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa is seeking candidates for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level to serve our expanding program. The start date for both of these positions is August 2023.

The teaching responsibilities associated with these positions may include upper and lower level undergraduate courses in the areas of International Sport, Sport Marketing, Sport Media and Communication, Introduction to Sport Management and Senior Seminar.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students.  The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area.  UT reflects this vibrancy; with 24 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and more than 100 countries, and “Top Tier” ranking in U.S. News and World Report.

Candidates are expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring student experiential learning opportunities, scholarly activity and service within the environment of an undergraduate liberal arts institution. The teaching load is twelve contact hours in a 14-week semester. A typical teaching schedule includes two sections of two different content areas. This allows for a faculty member to specialize.

The University of Tampa Sport Management Department consists of five tenure track faculty members and a full-time internship coordinator serving over four hundred majors. The program is accredited by COSMA and is located in downtown Tampa in close proximity to numerous opportunities for student volunteer and internship experiences.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate by August 2023 in Sport Management or a closely related field is required. The preferred candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following content areas: International Sport, Sport Marketing, Sport Media and Communication, Introduction to Sport Management and Senior Seminar. The ability to teach in other core sport management content areas is also desirable. Preferential consideration may be given to candidates with practical sport industry work experience and prior collegiate teaching experience.

Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled.
