Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University invites applications from outstanding candidates at the Assistant Professor level for a tenure-track position in lifespan human development/aging/gerontology to begin in Fall 2023. The ideal candidate will establish an externally funded research program that involves cutting-edge research using advanced statistical modeling to improve our understanding of the developmental processes/mechanisms involved in senescence. The position would intersect with the Department of Psychology strengths in developmental, cognitive, neurobehavioral, and/or social psychology. The Department of Psychology is committed to building a culturally diverse educational environment. We are seeking faculty who can contribute to the diversity and excellence in our programs and courses through their research, teaching and service. The position would be housed in the Department of Psychology at the Davie campus and will have access to resources provided by the Institute of Human Health and Disease Intervention (I-Health), the FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, and the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of which FAU is a member. Candidates whose research programs have strong translational implications, particularly regarding health, will be given primary consideration. The type of research to be done by the proposed faculty member should demonstrate high potential for external funding from federal and state agencies. Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Psychology or a closely related discipline at the time of application. Post-doctoral experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should have a strong publication record commensurate with their experience, demonstrated potential for establishing programs of extramurally funded and independent research, and clear promise of excellent instructional capacity. Candidates should demonstrate skill in the understanding of cultural differences and be able to foster and create educational opportunities where all student populations thrive.
