Position description

On campus, there are 160 student-run organizations, an expansive Student Recreation Center, a Performing Arts Series, and University Speakers Series, among other attractions. Indiana State Athletics, known as the “Fighting Sycamores,” fields 15 NCAA Division I athletic teams in the Missouri Valley Conference.
 

Qualifications

A Ph.D. at the time of the appointment in Political Science, or a closely related field, is preferred. We will also consider advanced ABDs who are able to demonstrate that they will complete the Ph.D. by August 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to offer courses in Comparative Politics and International Relations, preferably with a focus on Europe. Besides helping to teach the introductory courses in these two subfields, upper-level courses will focus on the candidate’s area of expertise. Additionally, the successful candidate will offer introductory level political science courses in the University’s Foundational Studies (general education) curriculum. The successful candidate will also be an affiliate faculty member in the Department of History, and will be expected to periodically offer courses that can fit into their curriculum based on the candidate’s teaching and research expertise.

The typical teaching load for an assistant professor in the department is 3 courses per semester, with an active research agenda and service responsibilities also expected. We anticipate that the successful candidate will engage with our students in co-curricular activities.
