POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position:  Assistant Professor, Legal Studies, in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies (College of Education and Community Innovation)

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Legal Studies Program in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Legal Studies.  The School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Legal Studies has a total of over 625 Criminal Justice and Legal Studies undergraduate majors, a graduate program, and an accredited police academy.  The Legal Studies Program is approved by the American Bar Association and is known for community engagement and its success in preparing students for legal careers.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Professional experience in civil law or criminal law
  • Ability to engage in scholarship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in the field of law
  • Knowledge or practice experience related to the courses in the Legal Studies curriculum
  • Practical experience working with paralegals

Responsibilities:  Teach a variety of law-related courses at the undergraduate level and engage in scholarship and service as provided in the GVSU Faculty Handbook.
