Salary Information
Department Summary The Department of English strives to promote a greater understanding of literature and culture; to add to literary tradition by fostering new works of poetry, fiction and nonfiction; to innovate in writing instruction; and to investigate the history of persuasive writing. Ours is diverse faculty, committed to teaching and mentoring students from UNT’s rapidly changing student demographic.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary The successful candidate will teach a 2/2 load, including undergraduate and graduate workshops, as well as Form and Theory of Poetry at the graduate level. Other responsibilities will include advising and mentoring students, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, and providing service to the department and the university. 
Minimum Qualifications M.F.A. or Ph.D.
demonstrable excellence in mentorship and teaching significant publication record with a minimum of one book of poetry published by a nationally recognized press.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to teach and advise in a second genre, ideally fiction or nonfiction, or in hybrid forms.
Candidates whose writing and teaching engages with Latinx, Black, Indigenous, Asian American or other ethnic literatures; queer studies; critical theory studies; disability studies; decolonization; anti-racism; intersectional gender and sexuality studies; and other areas related to racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual, gendered, economic, or religious difference are encouraged to apply.
