Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering Program at the University of Mississippi at Oxford invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Transportation/Pavement Engineering. The appointment is anticipated to begin in August 2023. 

Research: The candidate will be expected to conduct funded research projects in civil engineering with emphasis on transportation engineering/pavement engineering.
Teaching: Teaching responsibilities include transportation engineering, construction management, and other civil engineering courses. The candidate will be expected to work closely with industry partners and professional engineers to develop experiential projects for students.
Service: Serve on departmental, school and university committees and be actively involved in professional and societal communities. The candidate is expected to help in advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Required Qualifications:
1.    A Ph.D. degree in civil engineering with emphasis on transportation/pavement engineering
2.    Ability to develop and teach civil engineering courses including transportation engineering, construction management, and other fundamental civil engineering related courses, as needed
3.    Research experience by demonstrating ability to conduct funded research in at least one of the following areas:
•    Transportation/Pavement Sustainability
•    Pavement Management Systems
•    Advanced Materials in Pavement
•    Transportation Planning
•    Intelligent Transportation Systems

Preferred Qualifications:
1.    Experience in teaching and mentoring students
2.    Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) with the possibility of registration in the State of Mississippi
3.    Ability to effectively communicate ideas to a general and technical audience
