Assistant Professor of Architecture (Term Appointment, Non-tenure-track)

Ferris State University

Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) prepares artists and designers to have an impact through practice. Full-time, term appointment faculty members teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year, and engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly work, and service. KCAD faculty also advise students regarding their academic plan and progress as well as their co-curricular and post-graduation opportunities.

The KCAD M.Arch was established in 2014 and accredited by the NAAB in 2019. Situated within an art and design college, and located in the center of Grand Rapids, MI, the program values interdisciplinary connections and community engagement. Its curriculum is structured around a unique sequence of immersive seminars paired with design studios. The program is seeking a term-appointed (temporary, non-tenure-track) full-time faculty member beginning in January 2023 to teach design studios and courses in environmental systems, structures, and/or thesis research. The initial term of the appointment (dependent on sufficient enrollment) is three semesters: Spring 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024, with the possibility of renewal.

KCAD and the Master of Architecture program value a diverse student body and faculty. A key strategic goal of the college is to grow and celebrate our diversity, enriching our community, work and learning.
