Assistant Professor, Nurse Practitioner, School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University

The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Health at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor, Nurse Practitioner. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence July 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will have a robust program of research, be a practicing Nurse Practitioner, and be able to teach in the Nurse Practitioner program across courses. The candidate must also be willing to contribute to service to support the NP program.

Candidate Qualifications:
• Degree: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field by the appointment’s start date. Candidates must be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario by the appointment’s start date.
• Scholarship:
o A coherent and well-articulated program of research and specialization in clinical care, education and/or policy in health.
o A record or evident promise of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research and/or research creation.
o A record or evident promise of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field (e.g., securing external funding and the publication of scholarly papers, chapters, books, and/or monographs).
• Teaching:
o A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching at the university level and dedication to students (e.g., pedagogical innovation, student and/or peer evaluations of teaching, awards, or other indicators of high-quality teaching (Nurse Practitioner level preferred)).
o Ability to facilitate educational content as a generalist Nurse Practitioner, graduate or undergraduate education
o Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will involve graduate teaching and supervision.
• Additional: Evidence of curriculum development at the graduate level preferred.
