Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a multi-year limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies / Department of Economics. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2026.
The Department of Economics at Lakehead University is a dynamic group of active researchers. We are a small department with members involved in various externally funded research activities.
Applicants should have a strong interest in teaching and research. Candidates for this position should possess or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. degree in Economics. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as supervise Master’s-level research projects. Applicants with innovative ideas and experience in teaching and recruiting undergraduates are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
Compensation
This position may be filled at the rank of Assistant or Associate, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The expected compensation range for this position is:
● Assistant Professor: $88,094 – $133,223
● Associate Professor: $141,099 – $191,099
Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement and will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
