Assistant Professor in History – 31520 Faculty
Description
The Department of History at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, seeks an Assistant Professor on the Tenure Track in Ancient History with a focus on the Mediterranean world including West Asia and North Africa. The successful candidate is expected to teach both introductory survey courses and upper-division electives in Ancient History, as well as graduate seminars in the candidate’s areas of expertise. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in subfields, including, but not limited to, gender history, environmental history, military history, human-animal studies, and mythology. We highly encourage candidates who can bring novel topics and innovative methodologies to apply for this position.

Work Location: On-site
Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.
This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
What We Offer:
Generally starting at $60,000-$63,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in History or a closely related field. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Employees must be able to communicate with students, faculty, and staff and conduct research and/or produce scholarship/creative work.
