| Position Summary | Position The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research seeks a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty member for the Counseling Psychology program, beginning August 21, 2023 (Position #003301). The Counseling Psychology program is APA-accredited and emphasizes the development of professional competencies, a balanced scientist-practitioner training model, and the preparation of graduates for a wide variety of clinical and academic settings. The program has a strong social justice focus and we are excited to welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and/or those with a strong commitment to diversity to apply. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, particularly as applied to urban settings. Seeking external funding to support research and service work is highly valued. |
| Minimum Position Qualifications | Required · Earned doctoral degree (obtained by August 1, 2023) in Counseling Psychology from an APA– accredited program · Evidence of an established research agenda and publication record · Psychology licensure or license eligibility in the State of Tennessee · Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Desired • Experience teaching graduate courses either in-person, online, or in hybrid format in an accredited counseling psychology program • Evidence of federally funded grant awards or participation in federally funded projects • Research/teaching/clinical experience in the areas of diversity (e.g., gender, GLBTQ, international, race/ethnicity, or social class), vocational psychology, or health psychology • Experience providing clinical supervision, including cognitive and personality assessment • Knowledge and/or experience with continuous program assessment according to APA accreditation standards |
| Special Conditions | Responsibilities The hire will be appointed as a tenure-track faculty member in the department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research, teach graduate courses in the Counseling Psychology doctoral and Counseling masters programs, supervise Counseling Psychology doctoral student research, mentor students, participate in national professional organizations and university and college committees, and maintain an active program of research that includes seeking external funding. Specific teaching responsibilities could include courses in diversity (gender, GLBTQ+, international, and multicultural counseling), vocational/career psychology, or health psychology. Individuals with appropriate levels of experience may serve in the Director of training role for the Counseling Psychology program as part of their service commitment. |
