Job Description:
The Department of Health Policy, Management & Behavior, School of Public Health at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a fully funded, tenure-track faculty position in the area of Health Management.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain scholarly research in the health management area, contribute to the expansion of the public health management teaching mission, mentor MPH and DrPH students, and actively engage in university and community service. We are especially interested in candidates with a commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality among a culturally diverse school community. Candidates will have collaborative opportunities for public and private sector consulting and/or for research initiatives as the School of Public Health maintains long-standing relationships with the New York State Department of Health, local insurers, hospitals, and non-profit health care advocacy organizations.
The School of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, offers MPH, MS, DrPH, and Ph.D. degrees, and has a unique partnership with the New York State Department of Health.
Housed in the most diverse public Research 1 university in the US, the School of Public Health, in close partnership with the New York State Department of Health, offers unique and extensive experiential learning and public health practice, and conducts timely and impactful research to improve comprehensive wellness and reduce health inequities in New York State, the nation, and across the globe.
The Department of Health Policy, Management, and Behavior is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary department with concentrations in Social Behavior & Community Health and Health Policy & Management. Faculty in the department make substantial contributions in diverse areas such as maternal and child health, health communication, aging, health disparities, mental and behavioral health, health care policy, long-term care, and outcomes research. Located in Albany with linkages to the Department of Health, other state agencies as well as community-based and advocacy organizations, the HPMB Department is an ideal location to conduct research and influence policy and practice.
The School has a rapidly growing BS in Public Health program, on-campus and online MPH programs, and master’s and doctoral programs in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, and Biomedical Sciences. The School offers Graduate Certificate Programs in Public Health, Global Health, Maternal and Child Health, HIV Studies, Health Disparities, and Public Health Surveillance and Preparedness, and offers opportunities for candidates to collaborate with Centers at the School, such as the Center for Health Workforce Studies.
