The Faculty of Education at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Health Education: School, Community, Care and Practice. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence July 1, 2026.

We are looking for scholars who draw on newer theoretical orientations as related to health education pedagogy and who work inclusively both within and across different cultures and epistemologies.
The successful applicant will contribute fully and broadly to the Bachelor of Education, the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies, and the Graduate Programs within the Faculty of Education; to the development of new professional programs within the Faculty and potentially through the newly proposed School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health.
Candidate Qualifications:
• Degree: PhD or PhD near completion by the appointment’s start in Education or a related field with a focus on health, health studies and or health education is required.
• Scholarship:
o A coherent and well-articulated program of research and specialization aligned with the objectives of the Faculty and the overall scope of the job description.
o A record or evident promise of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research and/or research creation.
o A record or evident promise of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field (e.g., publications (or forthcoming publications) in journals, and/or other scholarly productions; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades and other achievements and contributions commensurate with career stage is expected).
• Teaching:
o A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments, pedagogical innovations and course outlines).
o Demonstrated capacity or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, provide supervision and mentorship and engage in pedagogical innovations, including new and experiential learning modalities.
o Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will involve graduate teaching and supervision.
• Additional: Demonstrated capacity to engage with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and lived experiences.
