The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is located on Epekwitk, part of the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship signed in 1725, which recognize Mi’kmaw title and establish the ongoing relationship between the Mi’kmaw nation and the Crown. We are all treaty people and acknowledge that we carry out our daily work in Mi’kma’ki.
The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track position in Educational Leadership beginning July 1st, 2026 (no later than September 2026), pending budgetary approval.
The Faculty of Education is committed to developing caring, compassionate, and innovative teachers and educational leaders. We offer 12-month Bachelor of Education programs in English and French with focus areas in International and Indigenous Education; a Master of Education in course-based and thesis-based streams, and a PhD in Educational Studies. All programs have a strong focus on issues pertaining to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA), decolonization, Indigenization, and social justice in local and global communities. We are seeking the following new colleague to join a dynamic and resourceful team of educators and educational researchers.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• A completed doctoral degree in education or a related field. (Candidates who have all but completed the dissertation may be considered)
• Significant and varied educational leadership experiences
• A critical perspective and pedagogy regarding Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in education
• Knowledge of critical issues in educational leadership and research in educational leadership
• Evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching within a breadth of modalities.
• Direct experience working with children/youth
• The successful candidate may be required to supervise BEd student teachers and MEd and PhD thesis students. A valid driver’s license is normally required

Assets:
• Bachelor of Education
• Knowledge of curriculum, educational theories, and research methodologies
• Knowledge of Indigenous histories, traditions, worldviews, ancestral teachings, and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum
• French language proficiency

Responsibilities:
• Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Pre-service teacher supervision
• Graduate student supervision
• Research
• Service to the Faculty, university, and community
