The Canadian Studies program and the Department of English Literatures at Mount Allison University invite applications for a twelve-month replacement position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor (subject to budgetary approval).
The successful candidate will teach five undergraduate classes in person in English and Canadian Studies. The two English courses are “Introduction to Canadian Literature” at the second-year level and a third-year “Special Topics in Canadian Literature” course, focused on the instructor’s expertise. The Canadian Studies courses include a co-taught first-year course, a fourth-year seminar in Canadian Studies, and one additional class to be determined.
Candidates should have a PhD (or be ABD with an imminent defense date set) in English (Canadian or Indigenous Literatures), or Canadian Studies, or a related field (Cultural Studies, Indigenous Studies, Black Canadian Studies, History, etc.).
In their cover letters, applicants should describe their relevant teaching and research experience in literary studies and in interdisciplinary Canadian Studies. We seek someone who has the capacity to teach in both programs and is an active scholar of contemporary Canada. The successful applicant will join small and active programs committed to high-quality undergraduate instruction, with opportunities for collaboration with the Centre for Indigenous and Critical Canadian Studies.
