The Faculty of Business & Information Technology (FBIT) invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the domain of Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2026, or as soon as it is filled.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research in analytics and/or artificial intelligence within the context of business and the wider economy. Applicants are expected to illustrate a proven research track record or research potential in topics that examine the role of these technologies and tools in strategic, human, and operational aspects of businesses and organizations. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more of our current and future programs. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate will be expected to have the capacity to integrate new technologies and AI into teaching and pedagogy.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate, in Business/Management (or related discipline) with a specialization in Business Analytics and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI). The committee will also consider candidates with a PhD degree in AI, Computer Science or Data Science (or related disciplines) who can demonstrate a clear research and teaching focus on business applications and/or implications of AI or analytics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of technical and theory-focused analytics and AI courses, including (but not limited to) Business Applications of AI, Fundamentals of AI for Business, Intro or Advanced Business Analytics, Data Visualization, Data Driven Decision-Making, Designing AI Systems, and/or AI in Business and Society.
Applicants should possess a strong academic background and be able to demonstrate excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer-assessed publications. The successful applicant will be expected to attract tri-council funding and engage in leading-edge research with colleagues and students. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions including the capacity to develop new and innovative courses. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills, demonstrating an ability to ensure strong and effective two-way communication on an ongoing basis that contributes to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
