The School of Dental Medicine has an opening for a full-time Faculty Member, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position.

Nature of Work

The Department of Craniofacial Biology is home to research faculty focused on craniofacial developmental biology, precision biomaterials and cancer biology.  There are strong departmental connections to the Graduate School and School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Applications are encouraged from individuals with a research focus relevant to craniofacial and oral biology including, but not limited to cell and developmental biology, genomics, epigenomics, regeneration, systems biology and/or data science. An emphasis on using basic research to solve problems in craniofacial and oral biology is ideal.

Responsibilities for the department include predoctoral and postdoctoral education, service activities, clinical care and research.  

Job Responsibilities

Teaching – Essential Function (10%)

Teaching responsibilities for faculty in the clinical teaching track are focused on collaboratively building and/or maintaining programs within the SDM that provide quality service regarding local, state, national, and international needs in alignment with the mission and strategic plan of the SDM. 

Research/Scholarship – Essential Function (80%)

Research /scholarship responsibilities offer an opportunity collaborate on or initiate programmatic inquiry and scholarship in alignment with SDM mission and vision.

Service – Essential Function (10%)

Service responsibilities include service to the assigned program, the School, and with other responsibilities as negotiated.

Opportunity for participation in the School’s Dental Faculty Practice is available.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at:

Tenure Track Assistant Professor (C/T) -Salary Range:  $120,000 – $145,000

Tenure Track Associate Professor (C/T) -Salary Range:  $145,000 – $175,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Assistant Professor:
    • A PhD, DDS, MD, DDS/PhD or MD/PhD degree
    • Post-doctoral training in the area of craniofacial development/disease
    • A demonstrated track record of high impact publications
  • Associate Professor:
    • A DDS, PhD, MD, DDS/PhD or MD/PhD degree
    • Post-doctoral training in the area of craniofacial development/disease
    • A demonstrated and considerable record of collaborative, funded research and publications

  • The preferred candidate will have academic experience and a demonstrated commitment to working in a collaborative and multi-cultural environment; and must be committed to the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Successful candidates will have experience and demonstrate inclusivity while working in a diverse academic, research and clinical community.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
